Microsoft Office 2010 On The Horizon

Recently, Microsoft completed the development stage on the upcoming Office 2010 family of products, and sent the package to the manufacturing process.
Some of the new features packed in the next major Office revision include SharePoint 2010, Project 2010, and Visio 2010. One of Microsoft’s Vice Presidents, Takeshi Numoto is quoted in a blog post, "RTM (Release To Manufacturing) is the final engineering milestone of a product release and our engineering team has poured their heart and soul into reaching this milestone. It is also an appropriate time to re-emphasize our sincere gratitude to the more than 5,000 organizations and partners who have worked with us on rapid deployment and testing of the products."
The new Office suite is expected to find itself on retail shelves sometime in June of 2010. Microsoft has plans for a distinct event in New York City to herald the release. Preorders for Office 2010 will be conducted on Microsoft’s online store. Microsoft has already stated anyone who purchase Office 2007 will receive a free upgrade to Office 2010.
There is also a reduced version, named Office Starter, users will obtain for free on new computer systems.
One of the main changes in the new release of Office is separate browser based adaptations of OneNote, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Companies will have the ability to host Office Web Apps on their SharePoint servers. Consumers will have free access that comes as part of Windows Live. Other enhancements include a 64-bit version of Office, a first.
With over seven and a half million users employing Office 2010 beta version, it is a sure bet the final version of Office 2010 will be a winner.
